P2SP Programs
P2SP Core comprises 2 half-day sessions.
It is a 2 x 3-hour program designed to build knowledge, skills and confidence in self-protection by providing a range of evidence-based tools to prevent and respond to violence and abusive/coercive behaviour from known individuals as well as strangers.
P2SP Core is suitable for women aged 15 years or above. Women of all fitness levels and backgrounds are welcome. Individuals with training in more traditional forms of self-defence can also benefit from this program.
All program sessions are conducted in a physically and emotionally safe and supportive environment.
After completing P2SP Core, you will become part of the P2SP community and have access to regular review/practice sessions and additional P2SP programs/events.
P2SP Core: Session Information
Session #1 (Saturday: 1:30-4:30pm) draws on the latest international research (in sociology and psychology) and focuses on the mental/psychological and verbal aspects of self-defence. It provides information on the nature of violence/abuse against women, its prevalence and causes, and addresses common sexual assault/rape myths. The role and benefits of physical self-defence is also discussed.
Session #2 (Sunday: 1:30-4:30pm) enlists techniques and practices from a range of martial arts and focuses on learning and practicing physical self-defence skills – including effective striking and defences, and dealing with common self-defence problems/scenarios.
Session Venue: Brisbane (unless there are alternative arrangements/agreements)
When you register for P2SP Core, you are registering for both sessions. If you feel you are only able to take part in one session per weekend, please contact us to discuss options.
P2SP Core: Program Cost
Full Program Cost: $120 per person*^
*A $20 discount applies for taking part in the program surveys (information about the surveys is provided in the Registration Form), and a $10 discount applies for individuals with a student/concession card.

Building on P2SP Core (or the Introductory Workshop) and reinforcing the principles of empowerment self-defence, these add-on modules encompass theme-based training sessions to provide additional knowledge and skills in physical self-defence. They also provide a refresher for verbal self-defence and physical techniques covered in P2SP Core.
Each module will be a 1.5-2-hour session, focusing on a specific theme such as:
self-defence on the ground
additional standing self-defence problems and dealing with attacks from behind
additional striking and blocking techniques
These add-on modules will be available to individuals who have completed P2SP Core or a similar introductory empowerment self-defence workshop/program.
